Where Friends Are Family

Weekend Activities

Saturday:

Join the Impact.  At 5 PM on Saturday December 20th, meet at the Sacramento Downtown Plaza for a nation-wide, peaceful gathering to make an impact on the private sector. This candlelight vigil, held at commercial centers around the country, will be in remembrance of the rights that were lost for 18,000 marriages, and in honor of the rights that one day will be again – for EVERYONE.

HOW DOES IT WORK?
• Please take to your local commercial district at 5 PM–Downtown Plaza between Macys and 7th Street, Sacramento
• This will be a peaceful demonstration in the spirit of the holidays.
• We’ll dress alike: make a “Second Class Citizen” t-shirt. White with blue lettering.

The organization we’ll support for the FOOD DRIVE is “Loaves & Fishes”

Organizer contact info: Jenn- jennifer_stuhr@yahoo.com will respond to emails with flyer information and other tips for gathering the largest possible donations. Because this particular agency doesn’t accept canned food (but is the largest shelter in the area), she has a list of items that are needed.  Please email for more information.

WHAT ELSE WILL WE BE DOING?
* We will stay silent unless asked a question, we will not yell, instigate, or bear signs. Instead, we will let our shirts do the talking and our candles pay our respects. Bring battery powered candles or flashlights since we will be inside.
* Singing and/or silence encouraged… NO CHANTING.. keep it peaceful and in the holiday spirit.

Sunday:

Breakfast will be at Mimi’s again this week – at 10 am. Help us get
into that festive holiday spirit by joining in the fun.

If you have a friend you’d like to bring, please do! Let us know if you will be joining so we can make sure we reserve enough seats.

Protest Sacramento 11/22 at State Capitol

We’ll be meeting at Capitol Garage at 15th & K at noon on Saturday, 11/22, for lunch.  Then, we’ll move on to the protest!  If you plan to join us for either part, please let us know so we can arrange the meetup!

PLEASE POST THIS ON YOUR BLOG EVEN IF YOU AREN’T IN CALIFORNIA – WE NEED TO GET THE WORD OUT.

After last weekend’s passionate protests throughout our wonderful country, I figured things would die down – but NO!  Indeed not – and this weekend promises to be even bigger.  Go check out the details at California Outreach.

TAKE IT TO SACRAMENTO ON NOVEMBER 22ND!

With the unfortunate outcome of the recent passage of Proposition 8, the GLBT community has united in a presence that we have not seen since the early 1980’s and the onset of the HIV/AIDS epidemic.

It is with great respect that California Outreach, in partnership with Equality Action Now, humbly asks you to join GLBT individuals and organizations, PFLAG and our straight brothers and sisters at a peaceful outreach on the steps of the California State Capitol Building at 2:00pm on November 22nd.

Please join us as we reach out to all the citizens of California to demonstrate that we will not tolerate discrimination to be written into our State Constitution.

Who: Anyone and everyone.
Where: California State Capitol Building, Sacramento, CA
When: 11/22/08 2:00PM
Why: Equal Rights are inalienable and CANNOT be taken away.

In 1987 the largest rally for gay rights in Sacramento took place, counting 15,000 strong.  We need to stand together and make a statement that we will not stand idly by and let the rights of our sons, daughters, parents, and friends be taken away.  Twenty one years later — 30,000 strong.  Are YOU ready to make history?

The success of this event depends upon getting the word out.  Invite your friends!”

can (in smaller denominations) so bill splitting is easier!
