Is Maine Next To End The Discrimination?

Maine? Are they the next to join the gay marriage train?  According to 365gay.com, thousands of people gathered at the Augusta Civic Center where the first pubic hearings were held to discuss marriage equality.

According to reports, the pro-gay marriage contingent came out in full force and the bill’s sponsor was cheered when he rose to speak. The committee Sen. Dennis Damon (D) is sponsoring two of three bills before the committee. One proposes repealing the Defense of Marriage bill passed twelve years ago. Another would render marriage gender-neutral. Rep. Leslie Fossel (R) also is sponsoring a bill that would maintain DOMA and create a domestic partnership registry.

The governor is said to be keeping an open mind, despite previous opposition.
